my friend wants to get 3 small angels i told her they will get VERY big just wondering what size tank she should get for 3 to 5 angels

whats the best kind of setup for them sand ground with heaps of rocks for hiding or do the like open spaces ??? i havent done any research on them (i don't really like them) any information about them you know would be appreciated.

Angels prefer a tank height of 18 inches minimum. A portion of space can be planted with Echinodorus sp. or the eleocharis or vallisnerias. They like to hide amongst tall plants. I agree with krytan. 55g should be your minimum. Angels have the tendency to reach 6 inches body diameter often minus the tail. Leave an open space area in the front. Adding slates and driftwood is not a bad idea at all. If you wish to keep other fish, please make sure none are too small to be eaten by the angelfish. Try rummy-nose tetras, lemon tetras, diamond tetras, black phantom tetras, hatchets, corydoras and small species of plecos. Keep temperature steady at 78 degrees Fahrenheit.

good advice from Lupin..tho I'll make an adjustment on the temp.

the consensus about the temp is that angels actually seem to do better in temps 80-82..(popular among many breeders I know)
I found that much cooler and they tend to stress a bit more.

Angels will do fine in 78 degrees on the fahrenheit scale but I think they do a better with a little warmer water such as 80-82 degrees on the fahrenheit scale.

I have 2 breeder size angels in my 37g. Once they get bigger, I'll probably upgrade the tank, or move them to my 90g. This is the absolute smallest tank I'd put them in. The reason why I say it's ok to have them in a 37g is because it is a tall tank, and angels do like taller tanks.

A 55 would be your best bet for 5 angels. I keep my angel tanks at 80F or better, most are in the mid 80's. With a lower temperature you do have to be careful with what & how much you are feeding, lower temperatures slows down their metabolism, which can lead to constipation & bloat.

In a community tank the temperature is often a trade off, you do have to consider tankmates. In these cases 80F is a good middle point.

At the moment we have 4 small ones in a 45 tall, as stated they do like deeper setups, temp is 81 degrees........:)
