I may be getting this new kit Hydor just put out.

http://www.bluewatercorals.com/hy2bawawi2xk4.html

I made a diagram of my tank to ask what's the best place and position for the powerheads.

The down arrows indicate they would be pointed towards the middle of the glass.

The LEFT BLUE arrow would be towards the left wall to bounce off or have both towards the front alternating.

The RED arrows would be pointing sort of towards each other around the middle of the tank...should it be more towards the glass or towards eachother?

The GREEN arrow pointing right would be towards the middle of the tank and the one on the right would go against the middle of the glass.

I want to create good circulation and wave movement...that's why I want the controller box. I also have my two spray bars that come out of the overflow as well but I have those sort of pointing more towards the top to create turbulence on the surfaces as of now. Thanks everyone!

I can't really answer your question about the powerheads but I did want to compliment you on your rock layout. That is a really different approach.

Unfortunately, there really aren't any hard and fast rules. The only thing I can tell you and what I do personally is experiment. You will have to play with the flow patterns to determine what works the best for your tank and layout. This applies more so when you start adding corals. Just play around with the positions, etc. and note the drastic changes made by slightly moving a powerhead.

I agree with Amp. It's a case of try it and see. I still adjust mine and they've been set up a year!!!

Wow...I would have never thought it could be so ticky tacky...well thanks guys for the advice. I am also looking into a tunze wavebox as well.

How big is your tank? A Tunze Wavebox, honestly, is kinda wasted on anything shorter than 6 ft. You can't even run much capacity without splashing water--even Roger Vitko at Tunze will tell you that.

Amp, I have a 72 gallon...what if you put it on the lowest setting? Thanks for the info .

Amp, do you think 2 Koralia 4 would be over kill or would it be good?

Amp after reading many of your posts, I know what your answer will be to the above question...and that is NO! I read about the constant monsoon you run in your tank and I just ordered a pair of Koralia 4's off of ebay for 35 each.

DOH!!! I got the wrong pumps!!! You are supposed to get the ones that work specially with the wavemaking controller box...I sent the guy an apology and a request for my money back...

I talked to Hydor and they said the photo cell that automates a day/night cycle by slowing down the pumps when the lights go out will be available in a few weeks so I will wait until then to get the kit. Does anyone have the wavemaker yet? What is everyone's impression with Koralia's?
