Can you guys help identify my new pleco???
Head: Somewhat flat (Flatter then common pleco)
Eyes: Round black eyes with white ring in them. Bigger than normal. Kind of buggy.
Color/Pattern: Dark body all over. No defined pattern on body. Faded white markings (not spots maybe scribbles) on body. Fins have same scribble then turns into lines/stripes near top edge.
Has a tiny fin right before tail fin.
I hope this description helps. I know pictures would be better, but that is not possible. Thanks!!

Clown pleco maybe? Your best bet is to check the l number list on www.planetcatfish.com

I looked thru every one that had a picture. The closest pleco I found was a snowking. Even then, I am not sure. It would be alot easier with a picture!!! Thanks anyways!

Um, how much did you pay for that fish? I seriously doubt that you bought a Snow King as those go for a LOT of money.

I paid $5.99 for the pleco. I really doubt he is a snow king too. I am gonna assume he is just a commpleco. His body does not have the same orange/brownish color to it. It is almost a black body with faded white markings all over. Oh well, just as long he does his job. :D

It sounds like one of the Hypostomus spp...
Be happy that you didn't get one of the more expensive ones...many of them don't "do their job" as you put it...they'd rather eat other stuff! :)
P.S. I'm leaning toward H. punctatus, which is the common one...perhaps in an albino form. You can read up on them here: http://www.planetcatfish.com/cotm/1998-07.htm
Just remember that they eat more than just algae and will clear your tank quickly! Feed them some zucchini, Romaine lettuce, squash, etc., and you'll have one happy Plec!

The tex and pleco are getting along ok. I bought a can of HBH Algae wafers. Looked at the ingrediants and it has zuccini and a bunch of other stuff in it. He has that downin no time. I do notice the pleco being extremely shy. I don't know if it because of the tex or what. The tex has started to chase a little but no injuries yet. Thanks!

the texas is a fast fish and pleco normally stay on the bottom and hide during most of the day, like the pleco in my 55g i would never see i would just notice that the tank was clean of algae normally. but pleco are normally lazy and only move around at night. that may be why you never see him moving around except when being chased.
get a pic of the pleco if you can.
