so I am trying to make a cave out of coconut..
I tried to leech out the tanins from coconut, but didnt seem to be successful..
I dont know why, the water just didnt turn dirty...
It was merely yellowish but clear ...

Boil more and let soak for a long time. Or run high quality carbon in your filters. Or leave it alone, it won't hurt the fish.

Tannins-substance leached by decayed plant matter. Tannins are not harmful and can in fact benefit fish that hail from soft acidic waters. Tannic acids do tend to lower the pH depending on the hardness levels.

Tannins are sometimes escential for some species breeding habits. Like neon tetras, they only breed in blackwater like conditions. (Blackwater means water that has lots of tannins in it.)
