So after I lost my clam....I lost my favorite fish. The female leopard wrasse. And the cause I believe was the RBTA. The RBTA moved to the other side of the tank and I when I found the LW she was underneath the RBTA at the base of the rock where the RBTA is now perched. She was curved, almost bent in half. Not a good week for reefkeeping for me.

Thanks fishieness...it does suck. I like the LW a lot more than the RBTA becuase she is hard work. The GBTA seems to be happy and content. Sorry about your pipefish: did you have a dragonface or the stripe or another ?

It was a small African blue stripe that we had at work for some time and I got attached to the little bugger because I got him to eat cyclops pretty well and was the only one feeding him. I decided to take him home and new it would be a risk because my RBTA is quite large for such a small tank, but most fish usually know to stay away (my freaking clownfish know enough. haha) But I took home the pipe and he went straight for it... :(
How big was the comparison of the LW to the RBTA?

Fishieness-that is the odd thing, the RBTA was about 2x the size of the FLW and that is what made it so puzzling. I really like the pipefish and hope to have some once my fuge takes off with pods. Right now I have tons of amphipods which are easily making their way to the main display, but my copepod production is almost non-existent. I am sure that another pipefish or LW will cross our paths and at least now we will now some extra precautions. Tomorrow is another today.

That sucks man. What kind of Leopard Wrasse was she?

I'd be really bummed if I lost my Bipartitus leopard Wrasse.

Sorry to hear of your losses. I didn't realise how stressful it was having a BTA in a tank until I lost mine, and then I totally relaxed. It's amazing how the sub-conscious is constantly worrying about where the darn things are going to move to next and what they're going to eat/sting.!

She was a Macropharyngodon meleagris...not the same a a Bipartitus, but still very special.

I agree, very special indeed and am very sorry to hear of your loss.

I used to be a big admirer of Tangs and Angels but the Leopard Wrasses are really something special and a delight to experience. They are hands down, my favorite fish. I have friends in the club with all the various Leopards and they are all just as sweet and personable.

If I had a large enough tank, it would consist of the usual clowns and then a Meleagris, Bipartitus, Ornatus and Geofreoyi Leopards.

The sad thing is that these fish get a bad rap for shipping but it's only because they are shipped like all other fish and should have sand in their bags. They get scared and dive to the bottom of the bag(hitting bottom) and they end up doing damage to their mouths and then don't eat due to the physical damage. I have seen many Leopards in LFS tanks where the damage to the mouth was apparent. A shame.
