:headshake2: well the anemone died along with my clowns three chromis my coral banded fortunately i was able to save my peppermints and all other coral
100 plus dollars worht in my 8 gallon bicube despite my 10 gallon waterchange and running carbon it still got my fish and even all the pods
sothis morning i took all tehe rock out and scrubbed it dip it in freshwater and placed it back in not the corals they are in the 8 till the end of the cycle so i guess i have a long month ahead.
but also my lawnmower lived and now resides in my dads 40 gallon folwr he was my first fish haha.
what should i go for with stocking i want a maroon clown or a pair of black perculas i would appreciate if you guys could help me decide so when it is ready i know what i want. P.s the lawnmower is staying in the dads tank so just 1 or two clowns then other fish. please restock my tank even though i really wish it never happened:mad2::thud::cry:

that stinks! What do you think killed the anemone?
Personally, I wouldn't put clowns in an 8 gallon tank, but maybe that's just me. What about a shrimp/goby pair and maybe a bar goby or firefish to hang out in the water column and then just concentrate on your corals? Green clown gobies are SO cute and would look great, you could even have 2. I love my Citron Goby too.
Also, are you in your local reef club? I bet you'd be able to get frags cheaply from people there, for restocking.
Good luck!

ahhh, gotcha! Well, then, I would get a couple of pink skunk clowns. I like them. :) I keep hearing/reading about how mean the maroons get. The black perculas are cool too. Are you going to get another anemone? Just a tip, even if you don't join the reef club, they may have a board where guests can post and read and buy, sell, and trade. Mine does, anyway. I don't know where your nem was from, but it seems that here in Houston, RBTAs are quite a trend. EVERYONE has one or more and they're always selling and trading babies because theirs are splitting and growing all the time. Apparently, if you can get a 2nd, 3rd, etc. generation nem, they do a lot better in a tank than the ones you can get in the LFS that may have been wild caught.
Why doesn't your dad want to join the club? It's totally worth it here, even if I don't go to the events often, I get a good discount at several of the LFS and a bunch of websites too. Plus, the BST board rocks. I've gotten SO many good swaps and even several free frags from people who are just needing to trim something back!

i dont join because i know the guy who runs it he owns an awesome reef store
he gives me deals on everything ahah so i dont see joining it to go for a 45 minute commute to the meetings when we just go to his demonstrations

i'd skip the nem this time IMHO, the tank is a little small for one and really should be set up for quite some time before putting one in (tho i know you know that ;)). i don't think i'd put a maroon in there either, i think a pair of smaller clowns would be better suited...
very sorry to hear about the tank btw :(

You could also use sand from your dads tank or your 8 gallon to help with the cycling of the 28.

i used the 10 pounds of sand from my 5 and a half along with biozyme and saltwater tlc and belive it or not it seems like the cyle is going as planned ammonia peaked at 2 ish did a 25 percent waterchange and then it went down and im not getting marroons and NO fish are going in the eight permanently and i knew not to buy the nem i had and impulse but after this i dont think ill have any more weaknesses hah btw i picked up a yellow watchman today for the eight to get used to me before the 28 is ready also i added hermits to the 28 just 6 litlle ones if all goes as well as it has been i plan on adding the yellow watchman to the 28 by sunday
IF all water tests stay good and are at a constant and thats a big if
ammonia is at zero ph at 8.1 trite and trate 0 so when do you think my coral can go back?
please reply also i added a blue background to the 28 here are some pics

the tank looks nice with the background aj. hard to say what will happen with the tank as far as a cycle goes, i'd say just take it slow as hard as that is. you've already lost so much it'd be a shame to lose anymore. stock sounds good just don't overdo it, i love the true perc's too, i have one in my 29g and she's a real beauty but really mean. you may want to add the pair last honestly, mine has made it impossible to add other fish cause she just kills them all! maybe you'll have better luck than me tho!

i did a 50 percent water change with my dads tank last night and then added sand from the five and a half and all readings are at zero ph 8.1 and salinity is 1.025 so i decided to acclimate everything over the yellow watchman was out and about this morning eating and the corals are all open and the peppemint is alive so i did more tests this morning and everything is still where is it suppoosed to be and im going to my lfs to get everything testedincluding my tap to se e if i should buy a ro/di system

I am really sorry to hear that all that happened. But it looks like you are making a nice comeback. At least you get to visit the fish store more often now. Trips to the fish store is like going to a theme park for me. Very exciting.
