so i have ben thinking about making a plywood tank, are they safe for saltwater??? I have a 2 pieces of 1/2" glass that measures 7.5 feet by 3.5 feet and was thinking of making a tank that was 8x4 and 2.5 feet (sa i can get it through an average door) and wanted to know if i could make one salt water????

Yes. In neither case can you let the water contact the wood, inside or out, so which type doesn't matter.

Good to know i just wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything in the saltwater that could eat through the epoxy or something, so maybe i will build 2 identical tank and do one really nice freash water planted community, and one saltwater reef.

see my posy on my 225 plywood build...i think i have a link to the epoxy manufacturer i used...
the thing with a plywood tank, is that the site i got the plans from (G.A.R.F.) does not recomend building them more than 24 inches tall... mine is 24 tall, 30 deep, and 6 foot long..

Just kidding. LOL

I'll put up pictures when I get to that point. I'm just building the stand now.

Maybe i will just stick to 36 inches tall then i think the galss is actually 7 x 3 it has been a while since i measured

my advice. take your time and do loads of research first. so u can build it right the first time!
