i was at the beach, well it was more like a a bunch of sand bars and mangroves. any ways there was about ten thousand fiddler crabs just loafin about. they were so colorful and it was just too good an oppurtunity too miss, so i just started catching them. i could have swarn i only had maybe 20 but when i got home i counted them (out of boredom) and realized that i had 64. go figure. i made a makeshift 30 g crabitat until i can do somthing with them, maybe crabcakes or a stew of some sort. anyways ther a lot cooler than the ones at petsmart, all red purple and pink.

jk bout the stew

For high brackish-full salt crabs, the only reason to put them in a FW pond would be to kill them.

Personally, if you can't give them a beach, then you have to set them free. I don't know why you took that many. However, you'll be able to keep a few, maybe even with a mini environment, if you can get your hands on a 300 gallon rubbermaid stock tank (did the math, really a 472 gallon tank). With ample playsand on one side, some mangrove roots in the water side, and brackish conditions, it sounds perfect for fiddlers. Here's a link:

yea i was going to take most of them back. what ther in now is brackish water, with sand. iv seen the same kind in fresh water ponds out torwards the ocean. i guess it depends on the individual where the want to live

thats expensive for somthing that i could barely take a bath in. i wish i had a bathtub just lying around. if i do keep them i would get a plastic pond at home depot, and build a wooden frame for it. to me it sounds more practical than an expensive storage tub.

If it's close to that size (or insanely huger) that'll be just as good. Can't get anything like that around here :(

it is a good idea. if anything ill take them back before i start, and catch a few less later when im done. i would still rather have a bathtub.

300gal stock tank too small? Have you ever seen one in person? They are by far the most economical for long-term, large aquaria housing. They are very heavy duty and the 300gal ones are the size of a med-sized hot tub, about 5-6' across and 3' tall.

For other economical options, you can look at large rubbermaid tubs and kiddie pools.

i didnt think it was too small, just very expensive compared to a pond at home depot

it needs to fit in my house. if it was out side id give them ten minutes before they became a bird buffet

More expensive, yes, but also bigger. Preformed ponds at HD are generally $1-2 per gallon.
