Black spots on cichlids

Hello. I have a few cichlids that have some black/gray spots on them. It's mostly under and around their mouth, but a few have them in other places. I saw on another site it could be from digging. The spots appear to be smooth and almost like a natural part of their coloration. I don't see any scabs, flaking, irritation, abrasions, ect. They are acting/eating normally and it doesn't appear to be be getting better or worse over the last 2 weeks. Any ideas of what it could be and possible treatments would be greatly appreciated. I just don't want this to be something that gets worse later. Thanks in advance for the comments and I wish I had better pics. These guys move around non-stop. John

It's pretty normal, just their coloration, sometimes there will be a number of these black speckled fry/juvies out of a whole normal brood, it's usually the "clean" looking ones that make it to an lfs or are being sold in general. That is unless the spots occurred only recently.

That looks fine to me; for whatever reason I've seen these kind of marks come and go with no issues whatsoever...I would consider it normal in malawis.

This is not exactly normal, this happens when the temperature of water is cold for the fish. just raise the temp by a couple of degrees and maintain it at that. These used to occur with my fish when the ambient temperature was lower that 20-22 degree centigrade (during winters). The black patches would disappear during summer.
