I feed him two balls of cichlid bio-gold twice a day. I got him in january and he was about 1.5-2". I hope to breed him with a female soon. Thanks for looking.:)

You mean 'Hikari?' Yes, it is good food. Beautiful Dempsey. I've got a big, beautiful female that he'd probably like. :) How big is he now?

That's a beautiful JD:) I feed mine New Life Spectrum Thera A pellets. I used to feed Hikari, and don't get me wrong, I like it.... but if you compare the ingredients list for the NLS, it's a better formula imho.

Gorgeous fish!

She's about 7" now. (3-4 years old.) :)
This pic is over a year old. She has more of a hump now and is much bigger bodied...but you get the idea.

I'm 'almost' tempted to ship her up to Maine. ;)

Hummm....... Id pay for the overnight. Right now I have my male in a 30g. Im currently buliding a 140g for the fish in my 55 gallon. I just have to put the plexiglass in and then fiberglass it then its compleat. I plan on moving him into the 55g so he would have the entire tank to him self.

love your JD!! I had a female about 7" once and ran upon a 5" male at the LFS. I jumped on it and took him home. We had one batch of fry, however by the time the fry was 1.5" he started the the spawning process again. This time he was bigger than her and she did not survive. :( She was the most gorgeous JD EVER... Moral of the story: when they say the minimum tank size for breeding JDs is 75gal, laugh and get them something bigger!

I will be looking forward to see pic of your build!

I was talking to a friend tonight who is getting out of the hobby and is willing to sell me his compleat 100g for $100. If I do get a female they will be put into the 100 gallon. I cant pass up this deal so sunday Im going to pick up the tank.
