I'm swapping for a 9 gallon nano cube! So excited! It's going to go on my kitchen counter. It only has PC lights, but in such a small tank, I wouldn't keep anything but shrooms and zoas anyway. I have a while before I'll get it up and running, but I wanted to start getting ideas for it. My kids want a seahorse, but I don't know. I need more information and of course, which one is small enough for this size tank?
Those of you with nanos, post your pics here for me to peruse and get ideas!
Thanks!!!

I must admit I wouldn't put a seahorse in a 9 gal tank and I wouldn't really recommend a shrimp/goby pair either.
I'd gor for a load of shrooms and zoas with several sexy shrimp. It's amazing how active they can be when they wiggle their bums!!!!

Oooo Sexy Shrimp! DUH, I'm always telling everyone to get them! LOL Definitely a group of those little guys and probably a yellow clown goby. Maybe a green clown goby too. any other teeny tiny fish to consider?
woohoo!

What about a neon goby (Gobiosoma oceanops)?

a firefish would be nice in a small tank like that, but of course with them it would have to be covered. but you really are limited to like 1 or maybe 2 fish in there with a nice set of sexy shrimp :)

Nano's are awesome. Aquascaping is pretty easy in a 1-10G. I would recommend you have fun and create some interesting rock sculptures. I have always wanted to create my own man made rock sculpture.
As for fish and inverts, I pretty much agree with everyone else. A tiny fish should do fine. If you want to do sexy shrimp then you might not want to get the shrimp/goby pair. The pistol shrimp might make a snack out of the sexys. You could get the shrimp goby itself. But I would aim for something more active since you wouldn't be able to watch the unique shrimp/goby behavior without the shrimp. I love mine, but I only see him during feeding times, the rest of the time his eyes will glare at me from his rock.

Unsure why, mine are thriving in a "7" gallon tank ;)
The goby are not an active swimmer and spend 3/4 time perched on the substrate.... :silly:

Good point, I guess I've just read too many books that state min tank size 20/30gal. I suppose after watching my pair (in a 30gal:silly:) I could be persuaded. I'd just been looking at my 4 gal and couldn't picture how much bigger a 9gal would be.
I will stand corrected .................

I have 2 pistol shrimp with 2 sexys with no problems - so far!

As an aside, if it's on the counter - make sure the kidlets don't "help you" and feed it... Take a little extra to go a long way towards a messup. It sounds nice.

ohhh, that's happened before, with a FW 10 I had in there. The food stays locked in a cabinet above where the tank will be. :)

dont underestimate the power of the pc in nano tanks either.... all my corals have been doing excellent in my tank, up into the lps and crocea clam.
