Liquid tests vs Test strips

I used a test strip today and it told me my nitrates were 200 + so I'm like WHAAAAT!?!?!?!? Then I used my liquid test and it read 0. Then I did another test strip and it said zero. Those things are just out of whack sometimes. Anyone else have similar scares/problems?
 
yeah i ran out of liquid test, so i bought some strips until my liquid came so i would have some idea what my cycle was doing, tested one of my established tanks, and nitrates were 150, so i threw the strips out cuz i know for a fact the trates on my tank were around ten because it is heavily planted and i just did a test a couple days before with the last of my liquid
