They arrived today... alive and kicking. I set up my 10 gal tank as a shrimp only tank. Everyone seems to be doing well, no casualties at all!
I was quite surprised that they are not red though. Will they turn red as they get older. These are all just juvies and babies. I'm very inexperienced!
I think they'll color up in a few days. Like fish, when they get scared, they pale. If you just had them shipped to you, they'll be pale. Also, they will darken as they get older.
I decided to change the substrate from sand to black gravel based on your advise msjinkzd Wish I could get the 3m colorquartz sand, but it is a little too far for me to drive to pick up a bag.
kj5kb - Thanks to you, I got GIANT lumps of java moss. I could not have done it if not for your help. I'm working on getting a nice driftwood in the tank and I can then put more moss in. I love all the green color against the black background and substrate.
The tanks is looking lovely. In no time that sponge will darken to brown as well and be much less noticeable. Well done! The shrimp have a great new home! congrats
Thanks! One is tied to a zebra rock and another one is a small malaysian driftwood. I acquired a ton of aquarium rocks when I recently got 2 used tanks!! I'm still going to get a few more plants, this is still a work in progress
