Hi everyone, I was using metal scraper and managed to scrape off glass crystals from one side of the tank. What happened? Luckily, the tank only holds shrimp and not fish. Will the glass crystals/spikes hurt the shrimp? Is it the scraper or the tank that is faulty? Thanks for any suggestions!

glass crystals? how did you manage to get that to happen? glass is really hard to scratch, let alone scrape off chunks.

Whatever might have happened, I dont think it would affect your shrimp. Unlike fish, they dont eat everything in sight.

Maybe a better description is glass slivers? Lots of them too. I know they were class because they reflect light and appeared right after I applied the scraper against the glass. It's good to know that the shrimp will be ok, thanks!

Something doesn't make sense here...

Is the tank acrylic or glass?

Are there marks where the slivers came off?

Check your scraper closely. A microscopic burr on the scraper can definitely leave marks on the glass as can getting a piece of sand between the scraper and the glass. I have yet to see any slivers of glass but have found the occasional scratch in the glass.
