View Full Version : Cherry with white eyes
Has anyone ever seen a cherry with white eyes? I noticed that I have one that is completely clear and has white eyes. Is it a mutant or another strain?

i've also noticed some of my cherries have white/yellow eyes. i would guess it is a genetic mutation. I believe tiger shrimp also have a similar mutation that gives them white/yellow eyes.

Can both of you post pics and tank specs?
Sorry for the delay, guys! I transferred the shrimp from a 10 gallon to a 29 gallon and he coloured up and (I know this sounds stupid) his pupils darkened. So now he has pin-pricks in the middle of eyes that I initially thought were completely white. I'm not sure if it was stress or he molted new eye stalks. I'll stop speculating unscientifically, lol.
What I'm more worried about is the white line down his back. Is it a worm? Speaking of colour changes too, I have a sunkist shrimp that was orange, and now it's brown. I've attached a picture of him and there's a hydra on his back. Can hydra hurt adult shrimp? Thanks very much for any information.
Parameters for both tanks are:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5 (tanks have hydra problem though)
pH 6.8
Hardness 150 ppm
Temperature 76F

The top shrimp has no parasites; I would not worry about that at all. The bottom shrimp, I am not sure what species that is, but, many Caridina species (http://www.theshrimpfarm.com/blog/archives/54) are variable in color so I would not worry about the color change.
The hydra, over time, may harm an adult. I would look to eradicate them as soon as you can. I have never had an infestation of them, so I don’t know what is the best way to get rid of them.
