i just hung a used refugium, on my 30L tank i know nothing about these it has a pump to pump water back to the tank, how do i start the syphon (big large u shape tube) tyied using a air hose thru it to start syphon that i saw somewhere but it didn't work.. any suggestions? or do i need another pump the refugium is a ecosystem 40 without skimmer.. downloaded the manual but its vauge about this part.

Are both ends of the tube submerged in water? That is the only way that will work. You are basically trying to remove an air bubble to complete the siphon. I also recommend an aqualifter pump to ensure that it retains that siphon.

thanks, the other end wasn't under, got it going but as you said big air bubble in the top of arch is the ok? or do i need to remove it and how?
what is an aqualifter pump? where do i find one?

You use the airline tubing to literally suck it out. An aqualifter pump basically does the same thing--it is the size of an air pump but has a suction. It make a continual suction so an air bubble won't form and break the siphon. You can find them on www.marinedepot.com as well as other sites. Pretty common piece of equipment.
