I am having an algae problem in my tank. I don't know what kind of algae it is though. The only way to describe it is to say it looks like green cotton that mostly stays on the bottom of my tank in with my HM. It is through and through my foreground plants.

I have been picking it out in clumps as best I can and treating the tank regularly with Excel, but to no avail.

Does anyone know what kind of algae this could be and how I can get rid of it?

Thanks for the help!

PS - I have a lot of inverts in this tank so I can't use something that will hurt them to get rid of it.

Sounds like your tank is getting too much of something. Do you have plants/ If so, how are they doing? Post you tank specs for us (lighting, filtration, fish feedings, ferts, etc.? Pics would help too.
