Hi. I'm new here. :hi:

My female red-clawed crab, which I got only a few days ago, has this weird white fur like stuff growing on her claws, eyes, and her second legs on both sides. I don't know what it is but she can't use her claws nor those legs that are also covered in this weird white stuff. She doesn't move much and hasn't since the second day I got her. (And on the second day, her carapace seemed to be opening on the bottom and I had read that could mean she had eggs but I don't think she does.) I got a male the same day and they were in the same tank together but he's just fine. I've kept her isolated from my other crabs and fish.

Any help or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I'm really worried about her. :(

Crabs don't get the same hairs that Crays do. This sounds more like a fungal infection to me....

try providing super clean water to see if that helps.i have kept these crabs for almost a year and never had anything wrong with them.Though i went a whole 5 months without cleaning there tank and they were still alive and i only fed twice a month too.
