I've upgraded my tank from a 20g Long to a 50g breeder tank. For now I'm running my HOT Magnum only, since my Penguin 100 doesn't power on anymore after the move. The power probably burned out, I plugged it in and there is no filter sound :help:. For now, I'll just run a HOT Magnum on the 20g Long and the xp2 on the 50g.
The problem is the HOT Magnum's flow is way too strong for my fish :headshake2:. Is tehre a way to control this or mod the jetflow to a spraybar to spread out the water flow?

I assume you tried to clean the impeller? A dirty impeller is usually the reason for filters not starting up. My Aquaclears don't make any sound if the impeller got stuck, either.

well you can put a sponge over the intake that will slow flow down. you can also move the out put so its hitting the glass and now blowing the fish away.

what mg said, or you can have the discharge hit decoration like driftwood to help to diffuse it as well

It is a not a good idea to slow flow on the intake side of filters. Sponge prefilters must be cleaned regularly to maintain flow rates. Normally if you slow flow, you do it on the output side.
I have 2 modified HOTs using a spray bar output. In order to make one work I had to jury rig it. I use the output which is intended to be used if you were running the bio wheels available for HOTs. I had to do a little cutting and then plug a hole with a small cork. However, the result is an output configuration into which I could push an Eheim spraybar. The second uses a larger Eheim spraybar and this is just pushed into the normal output piece.
The issue in trying to jury rig things is that the connections are tight enough to get the majority of the flow through the spraybar rather than "leaking" out around the edges where the jury rigging of parts interconnects.
