How do you get algae off of live plants like the rotala I have. The algae is dark green and sort of comes off when you shake the plant a little bit but the majority of it stays stuck on. Thank you all for all the help with my previous questions and with this one.

excel can help. its best to treat a problem then try and fix the effect.

spot treating or dipping with excel works, or you could try a vary diluted bleach dip though this can kill the plant if not done properly. there is also some other dips that seam to work.

Not to sound stupid here, but being new to water management, what is excel?

I seem to have a similar problem in my pond. If I could clean my plants with something that won't hurt them, I would be a happy ponder.

Thanks.

Seachem's excel, it's basically and alternative to CO2 injection (something like liquid carbon)

Thank you Ozy. I shall have to try and find some ASAP. The hotter weather here in the desert just made the string algae get very happy. Me not so.
