What is the BIG hairy deal?!? Some people get so upset when someone digs up an old post. Does it really matter when the post was made? I thought that it was always more appropriate to post in an already exhisting post than to create 30 of the exact same topic?

alot of people like it better if people just ask the questions themselves in a new thread instead of adding a "i need some help with......too." post in the middle of the thread.

it keeps the threads more organized if people just make a new thread with the same question, and keeps the threads shorter.

many of the people that made threads two months ago may not even come here anymore.

We do not mind several topics of the same subject because it is bound to happen over time anyway. Posting in old topics for help will not guarantee you any more response than you would have in new topics because not many people will post in an old thread.

Youre most likely to get more help with an immediate problem, or question if you start a thread of your own instead of posting in the middle of an old thread. Reason being, it takes a lot of time to read the whole thread, and when answering a question in it from a new post in it..ppl just arent going to take the time to read the whole thing. Therefor you will get less response.

As far as giving input in an old thread, or answering a question to an old thread, chances are as Lupin said that the user is long gone or the question has already been answered.

I personally don't care if old threads are resurrected, however at the end of the day, I personally think its best IF you have a QUESTION, to start a thread all your own instead of resurrecting an old thread to get the most up to date information and a speedy answer.

making a new thread also helps people get to know you.

Yep..always cute when some drags up a 2 yr old thread on have guppy fry available, and they want to know if they are still available... :grinyes:

I agree, the fastest way to get a response to your own issue is to start a new thread, regardless if there are other threads already existing that are similar. The older ones may have answers in them, but it is best to post a new one after you have reviewed others.

Why not delete old posts? Give them a week or so and clear the board,Seems like it may stop the problem..

It is not a problem...and you would lose a lot of valuable information contained with in them.
