I'm having a little trouble figuring out how to place my hardscape.
I think it's because of the dimension of the tank (20L) and the fact that it's on the floor. So what do you think?
*Note this is a high tech, Apistograma only tank.
I will be adding a small cave, a bored out piece of driftwood.

1, 3, or 4.... lol

I'm assuming it will be planted? What apistos will you be stocking? M/F ratio?

I like 3 the best, with dwarf sag, vals and anubias....maybe a carpet like glosso, if hi-tech.

Yes, it will be planted. LOL All my tanks are.
I'll be stocking wild caught Apistogramma trifasciata. 2M-1F

I know it's slightly off topic, but I'd recommend flipping the ratio. 2 or 3 females per male will make for a more peaceful situation, especially if you'd like them to breed. Great fish choice btw! You must post pics! :)

The fry didn't make it!
I would love to if I could.
But, these are Apistogramma trifasciata from Rio San Martin river near Bella Vista, Bolivia.

Thanks for everyone's input.

I got the same thing with my Triple reds at auction. The bigger male made short work of the younger one which is why I suggested it. I did get lucky and found someone with 2 females they wanted to get rid of... so now he's 1 to 3, now I just have to find the right music. lol

3 and 4 gives more hiding spaces depending on what you doing.

when you get hand caught and imported by a collector you get what you can take lol.....

Thanks for everyones input.
Here is the layout I went with.
I'll be adding some foreground stuff and a few more rarer plants when I get PCF lighting.
I just threw together a 4X14W Spiral job today.
The pot needs to go. I don't like the clay color.

Looks good! I agree with lowering the heater... I'd put it at a horizontal. That tank will be spectacular once the plants grow out. Great job!

Why, you won't be able to see it in a couple weeks.

Well, Ive changed a few things and I'm still not liking it.
I've pulled out most of the fast growers and slowly adding some slower growing stuff.
Plants need re-arranged still, just wanted to share the process.
One funny, well odd thing that changed is there are about 10 Gourami fry in this tank now. The odd part is the breeding pair are in a tank above this one.
I guess some eggs must of stuck to my hand during maintenance.:grinyes:
