I moved the Discus mates and twice she has laid eggs and they weren't fertilized and all were eaten. The tank is 29 gallons with sponge filter, heater, and fake plant: all parameters are ok though ph is somewhat higher. I am considering a new 38 gallon tank with a more natural setting like my 55 gal tank which has gravel and live plants etc. I just don't want to much gravel. The pair don't seem to be to comfortable either they have been in the new tank five weeks. Any ideas?

It may take many, many, many tries before they get it right. This is very common with discus. Do you have any idea what the age of the fish is?

Mine are also still in the egg-eating stage. They are in a 29 with live plants, sand, driftwood, sponge filter, heater, and a piece edging tile to lay the eggs on. Go natural as much as you can, they will be grateful for it. It still needs to be a home for them.

This pair laid eggs in my 55 gallon tank onto the magnetic algae scrubber. Several times with no success then the last few times were successful babies doing well then they floated away from parents and were eaten or went into the rocks. Even though I put a divider in, they slipped through. This bare 29 gallon: no luck. I am hoping the more natural 38 gal tank; I am going to setupthis week, they will do better. : )

Mine are eating them within an hour (it seems the male is the one actually eating them). So if TDS is an issue, they aren't waiting to find out.

just for kicks, put the mag float in the 29...

You might want a smaller tank for them to mate in, so the fry won't have too far to swim if they get seperated from the parents... keep it dimly lit at night also.
