I've already posted one thread on my son's new and unexpected tank, but just thought I quick intro was in order.

We live Sw of Chicago. I'm an industrial hygienist and chemist by trade so water quality parameters are nothing new to me. But I've not had an aquarium since I was about 10 years old. We had fish when I was a kid in the 60's and my dad was really into gouramis, neons and live bearers. Back then one never heard about cycling tanks, testing water, etc....you just went to the local WG Grants or Woolworth's a bought your whole set up, usually with some fish too, and you were good to go.....at least as far the clerks in the 60's were concerned! :eek3: My how things have changed! :)

Well, to make long story perhaps even longer, my parents bought my son a 6 gallon set up, naturally complete with fish and set it up last week while I was away. I've turned here and other websites for info and, yes, we are going to have problems, but at least I've found a nice and friendly web sire for advice and info! So, thanks to all who have replied to my other thread, and I look forward to perusing this site. I've already got my eye on a 20L tank........this could get expensive quickly!!
