Just curious if anyone could recomend species and where to find aquatic plants that wont overrun my small pond, its about 35 gallons. I would also appreciate if someone may be able to identify my turtle. My best guess is that its an eastern painted turtle, I live in NewHampshire any info?

Very nice!
I'm sure vicious already confirmed that you do have an eastern paint. Any floating plant will go wild given sufficient nutrients (which your turtle will provide); just resign yourself to netting plants out now and again. I suggest avoiding duckweed, but otherwise it's just a matter of preference. A couple of goldfish in the pool may help keep plants in check.

Thanks to all for quick replies and positive feedback on my pond. Just incase anyone is wondering it took about a day to build it. The perimeter is 6'x3', had my girlfriend cover in fabric for me. Total cost 155.00

That's really cool! My boyfriend has 2 painted turtles and he wants to do an indoor pond like this. Unfortunately, we don't have the room at the moment.

You could put some Anacharis for the inside of the pond, but your turtle might eat it. Good floating plants that won't overrun your pond are Water Lettuce and Water Hyacinth.
35 gallons is good for only 1 goldfish, assuming it's a Comet or Shubunkin. The turtle will probably not eat the fish as he is still a baby, but try to get the biggest goldfish that you could find.

Get some mosquito fish! They are small, and give a lot of movement to the tank. And I dont think that turtle can catch one of these guys, and even if he did, they are very prolific breeders. I introduced three into my pond a couple of weeks ago, and now I have about ten!
