I am partially posting this to see if my new signature with the link to my tank specs works... but I am also considering starting a brackish tank. Currently I have my sights set on a violet/dragon goby and a puffer... what other fish would go well with these two? Most likely this will be a 46 gallon tank but I haven't quite decided yet. I am also unsure which kind of puffer I want (other than brackish) so if there are varieties to choose from, recommendations are helpful!

Puffers belong in species only tanks. I definately would not subjece such a slow-moving fish as a dragon/violet goby to a puffers teeth. What do you mean "which kind of puffer I want (other than brackish)"? The fish you mentioned are BW fish. Will your new set-up be BW or not? I would suggest either a BW community, or a puffer tank (BW or FW).

Here's a good site for starting & stocking a BW tank: http://badmanstropicalfish.com/brackish/brackish.html

Can't believe I forgot about putting puffers in a species only tank. Good catch, pufferpunk!

Sorry about the unclear wording. I meant that I knew I wanted a brackish puffer as opposed to any other kind of puffer. I am going to read up on them more before I decide to get one. There is a lady at the local LFS who is usually very trustworthy with her info, but she assured me that it would be fine to put a violet goby with a puffer. I'm glad I double checked.
