This morning I heard a noise coming from the fish room. One of the powerheads was shooting bubbles into the tank.As i ran for the tank panicking it stopped as suddenly as it had begun. This happened 5 or 6 times before I spotted the culprit. One of the blennies(blennius zvonimiris) swims up to the intake for 10 or fifteen seconds before walzing off again. Hes not stuck at all, seems to enjoy it otherwise why would he do it?. The tank is over six feet long so he can avoid it if he wants.Anyone else had a similar thing happen? He has a slimy skin like most blennies so he cant be doing much damage and I cant see a mark on him.(In italian they are called 'bavosa' which roughly translated means 'dribbly' or 'drooly' because of this slimy coating.) Is it true they can sleep out of water? Heard it from a local fisherman but he might have just been pulling my leg...

Blennies can be crazy fish. My Bicolor Blenny likes to sit on top of my koralia powerhead sometimes, the powerhead is right near the surface and he just seems to like perching up high. Normal behaviour in my opinion.

Many species of blennies live out on the reef but just as many species live close to shore, often called 'tidepool or rockpool blennies'. These fish have adapted to being able to survive in little water and can even jump out of the water and across rocks/sand to escape a predator. So I don't know about sleeping out of water but many blennies can handle being out of water longer than other fish.
