juveniles - ovaries forming?

I was looking at my juvenile cherry shrimp. Some of them have a small white area where the saddle will later form. Am I seeing immature ovaries?

this happens quite often when you keep with he same family / strain. the younger get saddled and have babies earlier. adding new strains will prevent this and keep the colour vibrant.

Thanks bullit. It's not an actual saddle though. It's very small - doesn't cover both sides like a saddle would and is white. I don't think they're eggs forming (not sure) but wanted to know if when the ovaries form on a juvenile female do they show up this way. I only have 2 mature females in there and wanted more - some of these juvies are redder than others but it would be good to have another way of sexing them.

Do you know how big a female is when/if you see ovaries?

I was researching my question on petshrimp.com and I've attached a link to a pic of what I'm describing. If you scroll down you'll see a picture titled, "scads of juvies". On the far left of that picture there's an excelent example of what I'm talking about. That picture shows what I think are ovaries. White like mine have but this one seems larger. Mine have the same thing only smaller and just beginning to form on one side.

When I first got my cherries one had a small oval whitish area behind it's head. msjinxd eased my fears of disease, it was the ovaries showing.

yes they are the ovaries forming.
