I have decided to start a better pond than the kiddie pool I had a month ago. I recently saw a large rubbermaid container at a local pet store full of Water Lettuce and Water Hyacinth and it was gray, about a half inch thick and had 300 gallons capacity. I asked the dude where he got these and he said they were there when they moved into the store.

So now I'm looking for places around town where they have them. Does anyone know what kind of stores sell these? :help:

PS. The water lettuces were about a foot wide and had about 6 daughter plants and they sold for 2 dollars each. :lipssealedsmilie:

I've seen them at Home Depot and Lowes

If you have a Tractor Supply company in your town try them, they also carry large stock watering tanks.

I don't think I have seen the kind I want at Lowe's or Home Depot. I think there is a Tractor supply co around here, I'll go check them out.

I assume any farming store carry stock tanks, so I'll check on thosse too.

I found an image on google of stock tank and they are the same kind that I saw at the pet store.

Thats a stock tank. Home depot, Lowes have pre-formed rigid pond shells. Should be out in the nursery area (outside). I think they are made by Maccourt? Are you looking to put a pond in the ground or above ground? If you want to put it in the ground an epdm liner is the way to go.

The rigid stock containers at farm supply places work nice.

Email my sister, kathryn.secrist@rubbermaidcommercial.com she works for rubbermaid and she can get you in contact with someone so you can order it directly from rubbermaid. My sister can only put you in contact with someone however she can not take your order, she handles mostly overseas corporate orders.

Look at the farm/feed stores. There are also different brands of poly tanks besides the Rubbermaids. Rubbermaids are usually the most expensive.
I don't use them for ponding or my horses anymore because they are too prone to cracking. I buy ones from Tuff Tubs. they are a bit more rubber like than the rubbermaids and seem to be sturdier, particularly with the horses. Plus they have a nice brass drain plug in them where as the one in Rubbermaids are plastic and strip out and leak easily.

The stock containers bound to be cheaper than an inground pond liner. Ws walking through Lowes yesterday and saw a rather small one for 279 dollars, I had to do a double take..
