I'm contemplating switching out my DIY wet-dry on my 120 (4x2x2) with a canister for several reasons, one of which is when I go on vacation, I'm worried that evaporation will lower the sump level such that the submersible pump will pump dry before I return. I am also using up CO2 at an alrming rate.

I've always liked Eheims (have an old 2213 that has been in service for 13 years and still going). For my tank, which Eheim do you recommend in order to have optimum flow? Is the 2026 enough? Will the 2028 create too much flow? What are your thoughts about spraybar placement? I was thinking of running it an inch or so below the surface, shooting straight out from right to left.

the 2026 and 2028 use the same pump, 25 watts. the 2028 just has more room for media. in your case since you have a fairly large tank, I would go with the 2028. the flow rate on both filters is adjustable.
the spray bar placement sounds good but I would angle the flow downward a little.
good luck
