Guess this happens to many.
I think part of it is because I enjoy keeping live plants and gooey glue killed them off virus style. I miss seeing my creeping jenny in bloom.

The other part is I'm bored of my fish.
The kuhli loaches are much less fun without dense plant growth because they go into hiding. Hiding fish=boring fish. The bettas are no fun either when they are killing each other off. Not that I'm going to complain too much about that, it's part of their nature and I knew the risk when I got them.

Twice since I've been back from the bike trip, I've been at the shop looking for more female bettas because I had one I had to remove and I keep being temped to get new fish, just because I'm bored. Which is a stupid reason to take on new fish.

Been eying a tank at the thrift store. Funny thing is it's exactly the size I was searching high and lo for before and finally gave up on. A 30 gal high with a rodent screen. Another stupid thing...I have two tanks here with nowhere to put them. Given one does have leaking issues.

It's got some damage too, a chip on the side at the seam and part of the bottom panel trim is broken off. Rodent screen is probably a better deal then the tank. Part of me is still like OH there's a tank!!...grab it!...Special find ya know?.
Because used tanks were hard to find around here so I'd grab what came up. The sensible part of me is like nah...You bought one tank that turned into a problem leaker and you want another potential leaker?..

Why not fully stock your boarded 55? 4 clown plecos in a 55 seems like a waste of tank.

Do something completely different to what you have done before by way of set-ups and get stuck into the research/planning/look around at photos of other tanks. Or, just sit back for a while and do the routine stuff until you have the urge to increase your stocking/set up a new tank.

i know what you mean. i had a 45 tall with 3 asian needle nose gars. fully planted and everything. had them for maybe 3 months and i came home one day and a pair went into spawning. i have video and everything of them swimming side by side. female droping eggs and the male releasing sperm. they did this for a month straight! i had hundreds of eggs. was pretty exciting! i got most the eggs to hatch too! unfortunately the babies wouldnt take dried daphnia, black worms, blood worms, or brine shrimp. i got some pregnant guppies and squeezed out a few babies and they went after them with fury! unfortunately the guppy baby heads were to big and they couldnt eat them. finally a friend at a pet store gave me some kind of baby chiclid fry and i got about 5 gar fry to eat them. from that one feeding they doubled in size! i was like sweet! then a fungus went through my grow out tank and wiped them all out. i was so disappointed that i took the gars back to the pet store and took down the tank. this was back in 2001. i just got a new fish tank up july 2006.

Convert one of your smaller tanks to a Salt. Even though it sounds simple, all the research and reading kept me busy and entertained for a long time.

Why not reseal the leaking tank? Takes a half hour and you have a new one to play with for like 5 bucks plus the time.

cough cough, saltwater, cough. i just got some awesome plants for my SW 46. and if you live by the ocean then.............................

Getting bored, or burnt out, happens occasionally with any hobby. Take a break, relax.. The urge will come back to you soon enough..:) Theres no point in making yourself work with them, that takes all the joy out of it. A hobby really shouldnt be viewed as work.

If you're bored then take on something more challenging. Change things up.
