I think my Chinese Stripe-necked turtle has shell rot. How do I treat it at home? It's still in the very early stages. My turtle is still active with a voracious appetite.

is he ok?

Guys shell-rot can take months to cure. But it would be nice to hear of an update soon.

Hey guys! Sorry to have kept you all waiting! ET is doing quite well. I think I caught the shell rot at it's really early stages. I was brushing him clean every day and treating the wound and leaving him out to dry in a separate area for a full week. I didn't have any of those medications or soaps recommended. I am in Taiwan now...and have very basic Chinese skills. I just used things I had at home. His appetite seems to have increased. He's such a hungry lil' guy!

I'm glad to hear that your turtle is doing better. Shell rot is not that uncommon. I purchased a musk turtle a few months ago with a mild case of it on her plastron and it's healed up very nicely to the point that you would have never known she had it.
