I am going to be pulling a 10gal acrylic out of storage in a month or two and convert it into a SE Asian(I think) swamp or stream biotope. Now, back in the day the tank was a nano-reef so I have an oldschool custom sealife power compact square-pin and another 2pin for lighting. I have ony been able to find one power-compacts that seems like it will fit and not be like 50w or more. I would love to buy another Custom SeaLife bulb(the one I have works, but is like 8yrs old) but I can't find the proper bulb...

The lamp I have found is a 27w but it is only 5500k. I really prefer the look of a 6500-7200k bulb. If I ran a 6700k 9w 2-pin, do you think the colours would blend well? Or would I need a higher wattage 6700k bulb?

18watt eh? I'll have to check that out, thanks! Let me rephrase my Q though, it wasn't that clear.

If I ran the 5500k and a 9w 6700k, do you think the colours would blend? Or would the 5500k just "drown out" the 6700k?

The higher wattage bulb will always be brighter than the lower if they are the same size.

Thanks for the replies. I'll talk to my local fish guy tomorrow and see if he has access to a 27w but in 6700k. Otherwise I'll just get some two pins and see how it works out.

actually.... I just found a 6500k 27w. I'm not sure why it didn't turn up in my last search, but it should do the trick.
