Would it be OK to put a Brigg in a tank that has quite a few common pond snails, not sure of the species? I am worried about any "inter-breeding" that may take place.

I don't think pond snails are sex specific like brigs, so I wouldn't think they could even if they wanted to. Which I'm pretty certain they don't.
DDDUUUUHHHHH!!!!! Now that you say that, the pond snails are hermaphroditic. Well I guess that answers that 
One thing I have found is that the Brigs will out compete the pond snails for food.

Very good thing, i thought the little pond snails were so cute when they first hitchhiked in, but now I realize they are little more than a nuissance.
