As far as algae eaters go, you should check out the true Siamese Algae Eaters. They eat beard/string algae. I picked up five this afternoon and placed in my quarantee tank then added three strems trimmed above new growth. The Siamese Algae Eaters had a feast and within a couple of hours the stems where clean. I replanted in the main tank and added five more trimmed stems and the Siamese Algae Eaters took right at those stems.
