I didn’t know they could lay eggs, and it’s absolutely fascinating behavior to watch! I’m so used to guppies and platies who eat their baby’s that’s it’s refreshing to see parents protecting eggs. I thought they were both males, guess I was wrong. I’ve read that the males are infertile, but have also seen more recent reports that some males are able to reproduce. I don’t know, either way, it will be an exciting thing to watch and see what happens.
I have a video of it here http://tennessee-mom.com/media/play.php?vid=105 (http://tennessee-mom.com/media/play.php?vid=105) too.

Congrats :) what color are the eggs? If after a day or so the eggs will still be white, I think it'll be safe to say that they're infertile.

Wow! That's great! Here's hoping "they" are wrong and you get wigglers!

There are 4 that are white the rest are grey with a lighter grey at one side of the egg. Not that I need fry of any kind, it's great to observe real parenting rahter then the " i need to eat my fry" kind of parenting.

Keep us posted. Also to note, females will lay eggs, even a pair of females will lay eggs together and guard them just as if there was a male around.

males are usually sterile. there have been a few males with a freak gene (hmm...) that allows them to reproduce.

the majority of females can reproduce, and sometimes breeders will pair females with male convicts to make "jellybean parrots."

if you do have a male and female pair that produce offspring, it will be one of the few occurences!

my blood parrot plays dad every 3 weeks. he is infertile and he mates with my fire mouth. Blood parrot males are infertile. they look great for about 4 days, then turn while then there gone :(

I've never bred bp's so it's all new to me, but how exactly are new bp's bred? (without having one of the hormoned males from asian farms).
