For the last couple of days, my male bamboo shrimp keeps going after my male vampire. Noramlly, the vampire stays in a cave on the other side of the tank (55 gallon), but he switched to the other side when the female took over his cave. Ever since then, the bamboo keeps charging into the cave, trying to attack him. At first it was funny, watching him display how big he is to a shrimp that's at least twice his size, but it's getting frustrating to see this happening all of the time. The vampire isn't doing anhything to provoke the situation, just saying in the cave and fending the bamboo off, but he jsut won't stop.
I ended up having to put the bamboo in the hatching tank so he will cool off. I just don't get it. The bamboo always stayed by the powerheads before. I'm not sure why he's having such a problem now. There's been plenty of times in the past where both vampires were occupying the cave on that side of the tank, without any problem. None of the shrimp are even mating at this time, apart from the amano.
Has anyone else had any issues with their bamboo's aggression? He doesn't appear to have problems with anything else in the tank except the male vampire. It has happened once in a while in the past, but it always ended within a couple of minutes. This situation is on its second day.
