getting a 10 gallon on thursday from a local friend on MWT for 50 buxs ( 25.00 each month im paying ) and comming with a jag thats in a 10 gallon going in my 29 for awhile ( 5 inches right now and was raised in a 10 gallon its life and has layed eggs he says a few times ) ima keep the jag tell about 9 inches then gunna return her for credit at the store for food and stuff. well anyways i want to add my pair of JB cons to the 10 gallon but alota ppl are saying that thats gunna be over stocked with just 2 fish that max out at 4 inches so is this true?? and what i will be haeving in the 10 is 3 claypots and a lil castle type thing. but i want a few tetras for the JB pair lets say like 8 neons is that gunna be ok?? the tank is gunna be over filter with 2 HOBs so thats fine and the type i dunno bout. but does this all sound good???

I find the convicts a problem, sorry. Do not forget the jellybeans are very aggressive fish and mated pairs also have domestic violence even between each other. A 10g may be able to support two but you will need closely watch them for signs of violence.
The neons will never last for a long time. Bear in mind jellybeans regardless of their size are not community fish. Mixing neons with them is asking for trouble specially as the 10g barely has space to allow the neons to escape any constant harassments.

for the 29 i really plan on only haveing the con and jag togther and getting rid of everyone else. con is 5 inches and the jag is 5 inches. keeping the jag tel shes bout 9 maybe 10 inches then giving her for credit for some red jewls or maybe another uniqe convict like my male i have.

I still feel a 10g is to small for the cons. The 29g is DEFENTALY to small for a jag, they need a 150g min.

Why would you keep him until he reaches 9" and only then return him, why wouldn't you return the jag now? Forget about inch per gallon rule, especially when dealing with cichlids who get extremely aggressive.

I would rather you re-home it and let someone with right equipment look after it.
When she gets bigger she will be harder to re-home.

It's a cool idea but you need a much bigger tank first.

well my convict im keeping hes one of a kind
well anyone else
I think from your conversations in chat and the responses to the thread you know the score now. You're not going to find anyone sensible who will tell you what you want to hear, i.e. that your tank planning is correct or likely to succeed.
