What would be a good bottom feeder for a 5gal tank for new fry??
I'm thinking a snail but I would prefer a fish. I Might get both seeing as detriteous(spelling) is good for the fry.
I need somthing that is %100 garenteed to leave my fry alone

I don't see why you need a bottom feeder in a 5g fry tank. In my fry tanks I'm doing daily 10-20% water changes. So there is never any left over food build up as feeding fry is often messy.
Also i dont' understand your statement of
I Might get both seeing as detriteous(spelling) is good for the fry.
How is detriteous good for fry? If fry are kept in a tank with waste build up they won't grow as fast and are more prone to fungus and other diseases.
Also any kind of fish will eat fry, and i dont' think any would be apporpriate for a 5g anyway. I have even heard stories of ghost shrimp catching fry. I'm not sure about snails but they produce a bunch of waste which isnt' good when it comes to fry.
I'm still usrious as to why you think you need a bottom feeder in a fry tank?

Well I want one because I want to clean up waste because the fry haven't learnt to accept food from the surface, even when it falls to the bottom. Plus I've only got 1 left....I had 2 but I think the one that died was from no food cause it was really thin in the belly. So I only have 1 little ol fry left.
I also thought that detritous was good for fry. Which is produced by snails. I saw the fry swamming around the snail in my main tank when the kirbs had their last batch.
But now I only have 1 fry and it seems pointless to keep it in there...so I might just put my agassizi's or rams in there and they may breed. but a cory wouldn't eat fry would they?

Any fish will eat fry if given the chance, especially cories.
If you are having problems with left over food, this is what i do. I use a eye dropper to feed waht ever i'm feeding(flake, cyclops,BBS). I put the food in a cup then add a few drops of water, then I suck up the mixture into the eyedropper and use it to place the food right next to the fry. Thi way the food it right infront of the fry and it makes less waste. I feed this way 2-3 times a day, then at night i do a 10% water change.
It is important when raising fry to feed them often and change the water often. You shouldn't leave food on the bottom of the tank. You can take out about 1/2g of water each day and it should be good.

Please look up detritus (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=detritus) as I don't think that you're using it in a manner that is correct...
I don't think that detritus (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=detritus) is good for fry...it's usually the opposite!
There isn't really anything that I'd put in a 5g breeding tank in order to keep it clean...except clean water.

they stay fairly small like 1-2" and they jsut love to eat the algae, and left over food.

thanks for the feed back...
I read somewhere or some idiot at the store told me...well shows you how much I really know... I guess I'll just run with nothing for the moment...I mean I only have 1 fry in there and it'll at least a few months before my blue acaras or kribs decide to spawn....
I'm counting on using it for the fry produced by my blue acaras in the future....Thanks for the replies

why do you think it will be a few months untill they spawn again?

because thats generally what i've noticed. from the last time they spawned it was about 1 to 1.5 months before they started doing there thang. they were quite careless about this batch. it was very small, might have somthing to do with the water parameters.
