i was looking into my 90g reef last night and found what looked to be a baby clownfish. it has no stripes or much colouring yet . it looks like a typical young baby fish(very young) and it is a pinkish orange colour. i am certain that it is a fish and not a hitchhiker of some sort. i didnt notice any breeding behaviour from my clowns. the only fish in the tank are M/F clowns(occelaris) and a bi-colour angelfish. i have hermit crabs, nassarius snails turbo snails bumble bee snails but i am sure it is a clownfish. is it p[ossibloe that only one has survived on their first attempt?

any input or suggestions are appreciated.

trhanks,

from everything i've read on here (in the old propagation section) clowns are very easy to breed but it is very hard to raise the young. they pretty much only eat rotifers as far as i know but i'd think yours (if it is infact a baby clown) would be past that stage by now... here's some info here (http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110340&highlight=rotifers) that may be helpful to you...

I pretty much found my baby bangaii in the same way. He was living in my sump as an egg and managed to hatch and grow on his own. When I did find him, I put him in a hatchery, started him with cyclopeeze until I could get some artemia on the go and then raised him on that. He's now fully "weaned" and living in a 34gal with a couple of roomies!

Thats great news! Good luck with the little one. Any chance you can take a picture of it?

With a clownfish, it is highly unlikely (not impossible, but very, very unlikely). Banggais are much more likely to make it, since the parents mouthbrood the fry until they are quite large.

Except with mine. Daddy Bangaii spat the eggs out whilst I was trying put him in a seperate tank. The one egg raised itself in the sump!!:grinyes:
