ok so every time we go into the pet store my mom always says something like you should do a tank of just all these pointing to the angles or these are so pretty or something and my mom has always gave me a buck here and there if i dont have enought to buy this sweet fish you know so i would like to put some fish she likes and that prob. be a angel so my tank is a 55 gal planted with 4 serpe tetras and 4 green emeral cory cats and the ph is netral and KH is moderate but the general hardness says very hard so i am worried about the angles 1.starting to be agressive 2.getting nipped by others or 3. not going to be ok in the water paremeters and i plan to have totally unagressive fish in there so i dont want them to kill or be terratorial so should i buy them or just find something else she likes and i really dont like to buy them small then turn around and take them back cuz they dont suit the tank cuz there to big and treat them like a object not a fish i dont like doing that thanks for any help

They will be fine in the water. The serpaes could be a problem especially with only 3. If they pair up they get a little rowdy but they wont hurt corys or tetras. The serpaes are much more likely to bother them.

Serpaes are the problem here. They are quite vicious nippers. Consider replacing them with diamond tetras, lemon tetras or beacon tetras. Just as a side note, I'd suggest starting with gold, marble, zebra or koi strains. Blacks are really delicate for a start and should be avoided.

Angels can be agressive themselves. If they pair up...look out!

if i were you, i would get a few more cories, 2 schools (6-8) of more peaceful tetras, and one or two angels.

Your water seems fine for angels.

I have an angel tank. I had 6 serpae tetras in the beginning, and initially was worried the angels would be mean to the serpaes, but one day, I saw the serpaes attacking an angel. The tip of the fin on my black one was a little torn, and I said, that's it. Returned the serpaes and got some pristella tetras instead. Everyone is doing fine now. I would never keep serpaes with angels again. Like Lupin says, get the larger tetras like lemon tetras, those look cool. I do have a black angel, it is fine but I do notice that it doesnt grow and thrive as easily as the other strains.

Good luck! Angels are awesome, I hope you decide to do it. :)

great suggestions here.. reconsider the serpaes and you should be fine. i second not choosing black angels and doubly so if they are DD(double dose) blacks.

Just so you know, black angels tend to be quite aggressive and bullies. I have a black angel in my 125 gallon planted tank and he is the bully of the pack. I am told it is because black angels are a dominant strain. I am not sure how much truth there is to that but from what I have going on in my tank, I think it is entirely possible.

I have always heard "stay away from the blacks" but my first angel was black. I have had him for nearly a year now, hes tripled in size and has paired with a goldie. I it really depends on the specific fish.

Alright Thanks Alot You Guys But About Getting Larger Tetras It Is Going To Be Like A Misc Tank But Leaning Way More To The Sa Side I Plan To Have Some Killi Fish In There And Rams Maybe Some Asp. So Are Those All Ok For Angels It Will Be A Misc Ish Tank But What Type Of Tetra Would You All Say Would Be Best

killies may be a problem...at least for the killies..the angels won't mind them at all...as they like live food.

if you want killies..see if you can find the larger ones.

Lemon tetras, diamond tetras, beacon tetras and rummy nose tetras are your best bets.
