Well incase anyone is interested or hasn't heard the breeding of Pygmy Centropyge Angelfish has been coming along fairly well in the recent year and now even Live Aquaria is offering the Flame Angelfish (Centropyge loriculus).

This is obviously exciting for myself, because of the breeding project I have been working on for the last couple months. But it should also be exciting for any aquarist, because it shows great signs of being able to take the strain off reefs and being able to buy captive breed speices.

Aparently breeding centropyge was difficult because finding a first food hadn't been done. But a first food has been discovered, newly hatched Copeopods. I believe they are larger than rotifers which is why the Centropyge will eat them.

Should I try to breed centropyge after success with clownfish and dottybacks, I forsee another big hurrdle being that they lay eggs that free float in the water colum (pelargic or some term like that?). So collection of the eggs can be difficult.

Also the larval stage of centropyge is something like 50 days, instead of the 2 or 3 weeks for clownfish.

But good news to hear anyway.

There might be some hints on how to do the egg collection in some of these profiles...?

It seems like they've revamped it and not given links to the species reports. I apologize for that, and I'll try to find you a new set of links.
