So My breeding pair of angels are due to lay again any day. We've had the agression and the mouth twisting for 3 days now. (and I really don't think my female can get much fatter). So every day I've been running home/jumping up to see if they've laid yet. I've yet to get a fertalized lot of eggs off them as I think the male is either gay, confused or just imature. So after running home about half an hour ago I was yet again disappointed in the absence of eggs.

So I start watching the otehr fish and I see one of my Ram's has a tube like thing coming out it and I think it looks like the egg tube like the angels! So deciding I'd ask everyone on here what it is. I get up to go find the camera and notice another one near it has one too! The the first one starts rubbing itself on teh rock and I see EGGS!!!!!

So after about falling off my seat in excitment (No lie) I see that with this pair I don't have the angel problem and this male know his job and is making sure he does it!

But I don't know what to expect I'm completly unprepared for this. I've only had them 3 weeks and was told when I bought them they wouldn't breed for 3 months yet. So I've been feeding them on live food to get them to colour up. THey've dug a pit and laid partially on the rock and in the pit. I'm tempted to leave them in there for the moment but I don't have another tank set up as I was unprepared! Also don't have one set up for the angels as I'm waiting on a fetilized bunch!

So advice please! How long do the they take to hatch? Will they be ok in the main tank of should I move to a floating breeding tank? Is it going to be much like the angels? Will they be a breeding pair from now on?

Any advice appreciated!

Congrats!

I believe people who breed rams take the eggs out and let them hatch them in another tank. I have no experience of this though so you might want to wait for someone else to chime in.

Yup, most people do remove the eggs, but are usually prepared and have them in another tank or have something removable for the eggs to be layed on. But you never know, the fry might actually survive being parent-raised.
