Hello,

I am new to the fish world and I have a 55gal fresh water tank with 1female blue garomi 1female paradise fish 1 pleco and 4 black skirted tetras. Today I noticed one of my tetras has an eye missing I was wondering is this pretty much fatal? This sounds like a dumb question but I just don't want him to suffer.

its not fatal. I would recommend increasing the frequency of your water changes why it heals.

Thank you I will I just did a water change Friday. How much water do I need to take out and how often?

I would do 30% at least twice weekly. Monitor the fish for any signs of secondary infection (white patches, redness). You cannot do to many water changes right now, the cleaner the water, the quicker the fish will heal and the less likely the chances for infection.

hope your tetra does okay! most fish that lose an eye do just fine as long as they don't get any secondary infections.
