Just picked this guy/girl up 30 minutes ago. It was labeled as a Threadfin acara, but doesn't really resemble the pics I can find. The guy was very fish smart, but he didn't seem to think it was a Threadfin acara either. Maybe it will color up a bit here...

Have you tried googling Satanoperca? I don't think that these are the right body type for that genus, but, for some reason, my gut says that might be it, too...HTH
