It definitely won't be too much filtration.

The cool thing is, you can tone down the flow of the output to whatever you want with the filter, so if you notice your fish having a tough time, you make the necessary adjustments.

I have an XP2 on a 46 BF. It's a great filter but it does put out a strong currenct. At first I didn't use the spraybar, just pointed the nozzle forward and down about 20 degrees. It was too much for my swords so I attached the spraybar and now it's working great. The aquarium is 36" wide. Yours won't be that wide, so the current may be a problem.

Good luck

It will be fine. There are options for minimizing or redirecting the flow if needed.

You can always point the spray bar backwards towards the back of the tank. I have an XP2 on a 20G & a 29G. Ignore me, I like fish and therefore overfilter a tad. ;)

i have an xp3 on a 36g corner bowfront, it works great so I assume an xp2 on a 30g cube would be just fine. I aim my spraybar to deflect off driftwood to calm down the flow.

i run an XP2 in your standard rectangular 29/30g. I love it.
