Planting tank today...got all these questions popping up lol.

So my tank is a 15 gallon regular. i have 2 rather large pieces of driftwood in the tank currently (here's what tank looks like right now: http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157595)

I'm planning on moving the right piece back towards the corner and angling it so that the point front piece basically lines up with the corner

The left piece is also going to be moved towards the back left corner. I have some stem plants for the middle, a big crypt for the back right corner (kinda going to surround the driftwood), and some dwarf clover for the foreground.

now I'm trying to figure out what to do with the anubias nana that I have. I'm planning on putting it on the left side. i was originally going to put it on the / near the piece of driftwood on the back left, but how exactly does anubias nana grow? Would it be better to put it in front of that piece of wood on the left - kinda like where the fake plant on the left is right now, but maybe more towards the center a bit and more forward a bit.

So yea, any thoughts would be helpful

thanks :grinyes:

nana will develop new leaves from the rhizome, the rhizome lengthens over time, typically growing towards the light (in my experience)

Depending how large the anubia is. If its really big then back is good. If its medium/small size then infront/side of the tank is good 2 and get stem plants in the back to provide a contrast in the tank. Also anubias will generally grow faster in higher light but if your co2/ferts arnt at balance this plant will be the first to grow green spot algae and even bba, so basically it would be good to plant it center of the tank with the background stem plants covering it slightly blocking out some of the light.
Anubia is a fairly slow grower (unless your setup is high-tech), you will get a new leaf about every week or 2 depending on what you provide in your tank.

Best way to find a place for the plant is to try it out in all different places, take a photo.. Then when you have 3-4 different photos compare them and see which one suits you

make sure you do not bury the rhizome

yea I only have about 2-2.5 wpg, and I'm not doing CO2. I have Seachem Flourish (only liquid right now...wish I had gotten the tabs but couldn't find them and now I'm just about broke so...lol). I'm going to see how it goes. I may get Excel if the tank seems to need it.

I'll probably end up putting it in front of that piece of wood, maybe about 2/3 of the way towards the front on the tank. We'll see. Pictures will be up tonight hopefully :grinyes:
