So none of you have played chicken with a train?
We used 2 people 1st one to jump owed the other $20.
Some people race cars for their adrenaline rush others play chicken with the train. I've also played chicken with cars as we head at one another pushing about 80 mph.
My favorite is rock climbing a sheer faced cliff without ropes.
Unfortunately since I got married and had kids these things had to stop.
Guess at the time I was only responsible for myself and I've never cared if I lived or died from day to day. I figured if it was time to go so be it. I still think that way, just don't push fate anymore.

Playing chicken with cars endangers a lot more than just your own life... Whatever. It's up to people to make their own decisions, it's just worrisome when people think their actions have no ramifications beyond the loss of their own lives...

It was always done on a road that never had any other cars. We used the road to drag race also so no one else was ever in danger.

No one ever died, don't flame people because you're to much of a wuss to try it.
Some of us are adrenaline junkies some would rather sit at home and read books. One isn't any better then the other.
If people didn't take risks free style motocross, extreme sports, space exploration etc would never be.

True (and I did plenty of stupid stuff as a youngster including walking the edges of 8 story roofs and jumping from 3rd story balconies into bushes with 6" of snow on them) BUT none of those or train chicken are really likely to develop into a competitive sport so that's a pretty lame argument. IMHO of course. To each their own.

I understand adrenaline junkie but MAN. Does this guy not know that a train traveling at that speed creates a suction force that can and WILL pull you back towards the train. Who knows, if he doesn't care for his life any more than that then why should I. To each his own:)

If you weren't addressing anyone in particular then don't quote someones post when referring to the thread subject.
HN I wasn't saying these turn into sports. Just the people crazy enough to do them are the ones more likely to become the people who do the extreme sports or being the 1st to fly into space or test pilot new plane prototypes.
Also how is jumping from 3rd story balconies or walking the edge of an 8 story building any different? If you fall or land wrong you're dead just the same as if the train were to hit you.

No one ever died in our group. I wasn't speaking for the entire human population.
Funny thing is they showed us a film in school on why we shouldn't be on tracks, 5th grade or so I guess. After seeing the film we were like lets try. Of course the 1st few times we were jumping way to early but like everything its a science and we figured the latest we could safely stay in place.
I will say our trains were never moving like that one seemed to be. At most in our area they were doing 50-60 mph.

It isn't, but note that I said "as a youngster"... I was a teenager. I've learned and matured quite a bit since then. lol

Well the train was as a teenager also, the cars and rock climbing came while in my early 20s.
I'd still free climb today if it weren't for the wife and kids.
I have to laugh at the link you put up.
I can pull millions of links to car accident deaths, does that make it a dangerous stupid stunt to drive? Crap happens.People die, either by their own doing or someone elses.

Many years ago Pet......Nothing like that happens anymore. The life insurance policy wouldn't cover it and I'm not leaving the wife and kids because I needed a fix.

We used to go on the bridge late at night and it never failed that we would bring along someone who had never been there before. Well most evenings a train would come and you would have to jump off the bridge into the water to avoid the train. New people would always try to walk off of the bridge instead of jumping. We would wait as long as possible before jumping.
We never had nearly as close calls as the video and never played chicken, but jumping into the river at night was a good rush. Pretending to be freaking out and acting scared to the new person was a kick also.

Let's look at this from another point of view. How do you think the train engineer felt when he thought he was going to KILL some idiot on the tracks. That isn't fair to him. I don't think he LIKES those kind of adrenaline rushes.
