anyone?
You can but i would still place it on the back just to prevent it from getting any moisture from the tank or overheating. I actually used spaces as well to make sure that theres ventilation all the way around the ballast. That thing sure does get hot at the end of the day
BTW CONGRATS !!! lol you will love it

would it get as hot as a PC?i have one of those over my aquariu right now and it gets hot to the touch but its in the fixture.i just don't want any wires exposed
I mean you actually can mount the ballast on the inside, since your canopy got those huge openings at the top so any excess heat will escape. The ballast does get hot, like i can touch it but 3-4 sec later it burns lol
Just make sure to get a glass canopy for the inside to prevent any water damage.
in my setup the canopy only has a big opening in the back.. Compared to screw in cfl the whole canopy would get warm/hot at the top at the end of the day. With the ahsupply its cool and even inside the canopy its cool, only thing thats actually hot is the reflector.

Thats what i run on my 36 bf and I have my ballast mounted as you are showing. My ballast stays cool enough to meet my expectations. I did experience an algae bloom when starting with these. Corrected it by running only one by unplugging it and added it back in slowly. They are very bright you should be happy.

if you are really worried about the wires overheating, you can always replace them with those glass fiber wires, the only minus is the price and the slight chance of getting cancer

now add some co2 and you will get crazy bubbling.. as if your whole tank is one big airstone.. :headbang2:
