I was wondering if anyone had the same idea. I was thinking about using a small piece of plastic lawn edging to help contain some of my plants from spreading, i.e. hairgrass, crypts, etc. Has anyone tried to do this before? What does everyone think?
Thanks.

I think it sounds like an excellent Idea. I did something similar to keep the duckweed from completely covering the top blocking the light from my plants below. I just added a piece of plastic across the top of the tank to keep it in one area. I will remember that if I ever need to restrict spreading in the bottom. 8)

ya should be fine as long as the sepirator doesn't have any thing one it that might be bad for the tank. alot of people do things like that especially with keeping different substrates seperet also, ie keeping sand and AS Amazon II from mixing.

I had some extra plastic spacing that comes with glass covers laying around that I used to keep the sand back.
As long as the plastic is just that and not something mildew resistant coated you should be fine.

I did something similar with concrete blocks and my pond to keep Cattail runners from spreading, I'm sure you could do it on a much smaller scale.
